Please join us for a discussion of estate planning and income tax considerations informing moves to Maine and departures from our State with Pierce Atwood partners Barbara Wheaton, Olga Goldberg, and Griff Leschefske. Barbara, who is a partner in the firm’s Trusts and Estate’s practice group, will discuss practical considerations relating to estate planning for clients new to Maine, including issues relating to community property and joint trusts from other jurisdictions. Olga, who is a partner in the firm’s State and Local Tax practice, will address residency and domicile concepts with advice and best practices for assisting new Mainers or new former Maines from an income tax perspective, including thoughts for professionals with clients who divide their time between States. Finally, Griff, who is a partner in the firm’s Trusts and Estate’s practice group, will discuss moving trusts to Maine and away from Maine, including answering the question, Is Maine really that bad of a place for trust administration?
